About

Kurian studies fifteenth and sixteenth century Dover Harbour. Her research interests include: historical climatology, pre-modern urban environments, and the Cinque Ports.

In her role as Communications Coordinator for the SSHRC funded Environments of Change project, Kurian works with a team of interdisciplinary scholars including historians, scientists, archeologists, educators, and developers to understand and highlight their work for a general audience. Kurian is also the Communications Coordinator for the DRAGEN Lab at St. Jerome's University.

Kurian has received several awards and scholarships including the Ontario Graduate Scholarship (2022 - 2025) from the University of Waterloo, the Schallek Award (2023) from the Medieval Academy of America, and the M. Jane Toswell Student Presentation Prize (2025) from the Canadian Society of Medievalists.
